There are 23 new cases of coronavirus in Bulgaria, 13 of them in hospital. Thus, the cases of COVID-19 in the country are already 2004.

Due to the bad meteorological conditions and the road conditions in the country at 12 o'clock today, no education sessions are being held in 961 schools, the Ministry of Education and Science announced.

Most - 73 schools are closed in Kardzhali district. In the Pleven and Russe districts - 71 schools and 68 in the Sliven district.

892 schools across the country are closed due to a reported flu epidemic.

138 schools in Burgas District are closed today.

276 schools in Sofia-city, 40 schools in Sliven region and 71 schools in Rousse region are also  in a flu holiday.

In Varna District all 122 schools will not be open on 2 February.

Due to the announced flu epidemic in 887 schools in the country today there will be no classes.
 
For 138 schools in Burgas District, the flu season continues until February 2 inclusive. In Sofia-city, 276 schools will also not study until February 2nd.

Bulgaria's Lesovo border crossing point has reopened after a closure over a police operation against an alleged human smuggling channel.

On Saturday afternoon, a joint operation of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) and the prosecuting authority was launched at the Lesovo border crossing point on a tip-off for a people-trafficking network.

The perpetrator of the brutal murder of a 60-year old woman, a British national, in the village of Malomir, Yambol District, has been arrested, according to Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

Borisov told journalists Sunday that the DNA samples taken at the crime scene fully coincided with the DNA of the suspect.
