Scientists and local authorities will tackle the issue of pollution and mass fish deaths plaguing the Gulf of İzmir recently in a meeting on Nov. 27, İzmir Mayor has announced.
Massive fire destroys luxurious dwelling in Izmir
Firefighters bought the massive fire that broke out on April 27 in one of the most luxurious dwellings in the western province of İzmir under control after eight hours of strenuous efforts.
Seven people got injured in the fire that gutted 40 houses in one block of the dwelling in just two hours.

Nation rushes to florists to celebrate Mother’s Day
Florists saw one of the busiest days of the year as Turkey marked Mother's Day on May 8.
Like most other countries in the world, Turkey celebrates Mother's Day on the second Sunday of May every year.
"Customers usually prefer wild flowers, such as carnations and daisies, on this day," said Yıldız Çalıoğlu, who is running a florist shop in Istanbul's Taksim Square.
Turkey hands over homes, shops to İzmir quake victims
Turkey delivers the first phase residences and shops to the earthquake victims in the western province of İzmir, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Nov. 26.
"After the İzmir earthquake, we decided to build a total of 5,074 residences and 353 shops. We promised to start delivering them within a year," Erdoğan said, attending the earthquake housing delivery ceremony in İzmir.
Heavy rainfall floods parts of Turkey’s İzmir twice in 7 days
Turkey's third-largest city of İzmir has been battered by heavy rainfall once more since last week.
Torrential rains caused flash floods in the city with a population of around 4 million, blocking main roadways in downtown areas and surrounding districts.
