Former CHP mayor Sarıgül to run independently for Istanbul's Şişli district

Mustafa Sarıgül, former mayor of the Şişli district of Istanbul from the ranks of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), has resigned from the CHP and said he would run independently for the same constituency in the upcoming local polls.

The former leader of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), Deniz Baykal, has suggested that the party will continue to fight against the constitutional amendment passed in the April 16 referendum shifting Turkey to an executive presidential system, saying the vote created a "constitutional crisis." 

Ousted Mardin co-mayor Türk visits former main opposition leader Baykal

Ahmet Türk, the ousted co-mayor of the southeastern province of Mardin, has paid a visit to former leader of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), Deniz Baykal, in Ankara. 

Türk visited Baykal, who is currently a CHP lawmaker from the southern province of Antalya, to express appreciation for the latter's visit to his family during his arrest.
