Fenerbahçe taste home defeat to Gençlerbirliği

Istanbul's Fenerbahçe on March 14 tasted a 2-1 home football loss to the capital team's Gençlerbirliği in the Turkish Süper Lig.

Fenerbahçe's Czech defender Filip Novak broke the deadlock by heading in the 35th minute in Istanbul's Ulker Stadium.

But then Serdar Aziz, another Fenerbahçe defender, netted an own goal, leveling the score 1-1 in the 40th minute.

Trabzonspor wins first game with new coach

Trabzonspor won its first game under its new coach, Abdullah Avcı, 1-0 against Erzurumspor in the Turkish Süper Lig on Nov. 22, ending a five-game winless streak.

Caleb Ekuban scored the only goal of the game in the first half to end the home team's poor form in the league.
With the win, Trabzonspor increased its total points to nine, while Erzurumspor remained in eight points.

Fenerbahçe, Trabzonspor share the spoils

Fenerbahçe failed to clinch its first league win of the season as it was held to a 2-2 draw at home by Trabzonspor on Aug. 20.

Trabzonspor started the Spor Toto Super League second week match with a goal when striker Burak Yılmaz took advantage and scored after Juraj Kucka's chip over Fenerbahçe's defense in the fifth minute.

Leader Beşiktaş shoots self in foot in derby

Turkish Super League leader Beşiktaş was forced to share the points with visiting archrival Fenerbahçe in an Istanbul derby on May 7 after the home side's Marcelo headed into his own goal with the last play of the game.

The defending champion utilized its home advantage in the first half, harnessing the support of 40,000 spectators to increase the pressure on Fenerbahçe's goal.

Visitor Fenerbahçe was off to a flying start in the third minute as it took the lead in the derby when Nigerian striker Emmanuel Emenike scored.
