Galatasaray get precious home win in Turkish league as archrivals lose

Galatasaray on Oct. 31 beat Gaziantep FK 2-0 in a Turkish Spor Toto Süper Lig match for a valuable victory as their archrivals Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe suffered defeats each in the same week.

The visitors were quite disciplined in defense after the kickoff in Istanbul's Nef Stadium as the Lions managed to break the deadlock just before the break.

Beşiktaş on brink of Süper Lig title with 7-0 win

Beşiktaş is on the brink of the Turkish Süper Lig title as it had a 7-0 win over Atakaş Hatayspor on matchday 39.

Black Eagles broke the deadlock with an own goal from Babajide Akintola in the second minute at Istanbul's Vodafone Park.

Canadian winger Cyle Larin scored four goals in the 11th, 14th, 55th, and 65th minutes respectively, for the Black-Eagles.

Beşiktaş closes in on Turkish Süper Lig title

Beşiktaş increased its points advantage to five in the Turkish Süper Lig after mid-week games as it prepares to take on Hatayspor on May 1.

Its closest rival, Fenerbahçe, was held to a goalless draw at Alanyaspor on April 29, a day after the leader won 3-2 at Rizespor, leading to a huge advantage in the title race for Beşiktaş with four games to go.

Sivasspor hold Galatasaray to 2-2 draw

Beşiktaş climbed atop the Turkish Süper Lig standings over the weekend after Galatasaray was held to a shocking 2-2 draw against Sivasspor at home on March 7.

Beşiktaş had won 2-1 against Gaziantep the previous day to increase its point tally to 60, two points ahead of second-placed Galatasaray despite playing one fewer game.

Fenerbahçe beats Trabzonspor to put troubles on hold

Fenerbahçe beat Trabzonspor 1-0 in a Turkish Süper Lig match on Feb. 28 to keep its title hopes alive, easing the pressure on coach Erol Bulut.

The visiting side's Greek midfielder Dimitris Pelkas scored the winner in the 76th minute when his long-range shot on a counterattack beat Trabzonspor goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır.

Galatasaray topple Kasımpaşa 2-1 amid heavy snowfall

Galatasaray gained three points by beating Kasımpaşa 2-1 on Feb. 14 amid heavy snowfall at the Türk Telekom Stadium in Istanbul.

Kerem Aktürkoğlu gave a 1-0 lead to the Lions in the ninth minute but Isaac Thelin​​​​​​​ scored an equalizer for the away side in the 51st minute.

Galatasaray secured a hard-fought win after Mostafa Mohamed converted the penalty in the 89th minute.
