Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has called on the international community and the European Union to impose sanctions on Egypt after the death penalty given to former President Mohamed Morsi, blasting them for remaining silent toward Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. 

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has slammed the death penalty issued for former Egyptian president Mohamed Mursi, likening the country to "ancient Egypt" while criticizing the Western stance over the coup, which was led by Mursi's successor Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, and Greek PM Alexis Tsipras met in Nicosia today.

The three countries expressed their will and readiness to cooperate on a political, fiscal, trade, and tourism level on many a matter.

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos on Thursday called on his Egyptian counterpart Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi for the two countries to step up their cooperation in culture, arts and trade.

President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an will pay an official visit to Kuwait next week, at the invitation of Kuwait?s emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah.

The visit will take place on April 27-28, with Erdo?an meeting the sheikh on the second day of his visit. 

Turkey has criticized an Egyptian court verdict that sentenced ousted President Mohamed Morsi to 20 years in prison, questioning the impartiality of such court decisions against a certain segment of society - a reference to the Muslim Brotherhood.  

ALEXANDRIA - Former Serbian president and leader of the opposition Social Democratic Party (SDS) Boris Tadic was appointed as member of the Board of Trustees of the Library of Alexandria, SDS said in a release on Monday.

Egypt's ex-president Mohamed Morsi faces being sentenced to death April 21 on charges of inciting the killing of protestors in the first verdict against him nearly two years after his fall from power.

Egypt and Saudi Arabia are considering holding joint military manoeuvres in the kingdom as the allies carry out air strikes in its neighbour Yemen, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's office said.
      
Other Gulf Arab countries would also participate, the Egyptian president's office said late Tuesday.
      

The United States announced on March 31 it was lifting its hold on the supply of military equipment to Egypt, which was frozen when the military took power in Cairo nearly two years ago.
