The Kurdish-issue focused Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) managed to get more than 10 percent of the votes in Turkey's June 24 elections, passing the national election threshold.

Prominent Turkish journalist Ahmet Şık, who has been imprisoned several times, has announced he is running for a seat in parliament with the Kurdish issue-focused Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) for Istanbul. 

The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) on Aug. 26 launches its "Justice Congress" in the western province of Çanakkale, planning to hold workshops, panels and discussions on Turkey's poor current justice record.

An interim election government will function as an extension of the incumbent Justice and Development Party (AKP), a deputy of the Peoples? Democratic Party (HDP) has said, justifying his decision to refuse an offer from Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu to take part in the pre-election cabinet.

Having begun working to form an interim government that will act until snap elections scheduled for Nov. 1, Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu has eventually sent letters of proposals to deputies of opposition parties, asking them to take part in the government.

A criminal complaint has been filed against 27 prominent figures, including main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal K?l?çdaro?lu, journalists and celebrities, for comments made on social media about the police operation to end the March 31 hostage crisis at Istanbul's Ça?layan Courthouse, which ended with the death of a prosecutor and his two captors.
