A business what looked like a hair salon in Istanbul's Arnavutköy district was actually an illegal abortion clinic operated by Syrian migrants, according to the police.

JAKARTA, Indonesia — A 15-year-old Indonesian girl who was raped by her brother has been sentenced to six months in prison for having an abortion, police said Sunday.

Both the girl and her 18-year-old brother were convicted Thursday by the District Court of Muara Bulian in Batanghari district in Jambi province, said Singgih Hermawan, deputy chief of the local police.

The new law on abortion, whose draft version is nearly complete, will put an emphasis on women's right to choose, health minister Venko Filipce pledged.

The law will allow women to choose to have an abortion until the 12th week of pregnancy after consultation with their gynaecologist.

The Macedonian health ministry is working to redraw the divisive Law on Abortion and will soon submit its proposals to parliament, recently-appointed Health Minister Venko Filipce told media on Wednesday.

Ireland will hold a referendum at the end of May on liberalizing its restrictive abortion laws, a highly sensitive issue in the traditionally devoutly Catholic country.

The Irish government proposed to have a referendum on mitigation of the abortion law passed at the end of May, the news agencies reported.

The Polish Parliament rejected the liberalization of the strict abortion law late last night and voted to continue work on developing even more conservative rules, the World Agencies have said.

The proposals were made in two separate bills submitted by various civil associations.
