The Number of People in Bulgaria Smoking in Bars and Restaurants is Increasing
While in Europe in recent years there has been a tendency of a gradual reduction in the number of smokers in restaurants and bars, there is more and more in our country, one of the reasons being that the ban is not applied seriously. The Greek Cancer Society has called on smokers to refrain from leaving cigarette butts on the country's beaches, underlining the risks to public health and the environment from an estimated 22 billion cigarette ends discarded on streets and beaches every year.

Slipping standards
An image can often help you realize a lot of things all at once. Having stopped recently at a traffic light, I noticed the bus beside me, where the driver was smoking a cigarette, tapping the ash every couple of drags onto the street from a small open window. It shouldn't have surprised me because I've often seen bus drivers smoking or talking on cell phones.

Tobacco Growers to Protest over 'Smear Campaign' against Cigarettes Holding
Bulgarian tobacco growers have vowed to take to the streets unless what they call a "smear campaign" against Bulgartabac, a major tobacco holding group in the country.
Earlier the private company announced it was halting all sales to the Middle East as of April 01, citing an alleged negative media campaign and the "sensitive situation in that region".
