Water frogs are in danger of becoming regionally extinct in parts of Turkey, where they are native, due to over-harvesting for human consumption, scientists have warned, according to the British daily Independent.
Kites no longer flying over Turkey’s Adana due to power outage risks
Kites that would normally dot the skies of the southern province of Adana with the arrival of spring will not be flying any more, after a decision made by the Adana Governor's Office.
Those under the age of 20 and over 65, who could not go out due to the COVID-19 measures taken, had started flying kites from the roofs of their homes.
700,000 illegally produced face masks seized
Turkish security forces seized 700,000 face masks which were illegally produced and sold in southern Adana province, sources said on April 23.
Acting on a tip-off, provincial gendarmerie command teams carried out raids in three different locations in Seyhan and Cukurova districts, said the sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Three religious manuscripts seized in eastern Turkey
Turkish security forces seized three religious manuscripts in the southern Adana province on Feb. 23, according to security sources.
Turkish police conducted an operation in the Seyhan district of the province as part of operations against historical artifact smuggling, said the sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Triumphal Arch in Anavarza restored
Restoration work has been completed in the gate of the ancient city of Anavarza, one of the most important settlements in Anatolia on the UNESCO World Heritage Temporary List.
The gate was built in memory of the victory of the Romans against the Persians in the 3rd century and is called the "Triumphal Arch." With the recent restoration work, the arch has gained its former glory.

Book publishing grows by over 3 pct in 2019
Book publishing in Turkey has grown by 3.16 percent year-on-year in 2019, an association said.
Independent publishers in the country have published 423 million books in 2019, Kenan Kocatürk, head of the Turkish Publishers Association (TPA), told Anadolu Agency.
He was speaking on the sidelines of the Çukurova Book Fair in southern Adana province.
