Fire in Aitoloakarnania under partial control
A wildfire in the Agia Triada forest area of Thermo, Aitoloakarnania, Western Greece, is now partially under control, the Fire Service reported Thursday.
Ground and aerial units have been actively engaged in firefighting efforts since Wednesday.

Fires break out in Larissa, Argolida and Aetolia-Acarnania
Fires broke out on Wednesday in Larissa, Argolis and Aetolia-Acarnania.
In Larissa, Thessaly, a fire erupted at a business site in the Omorfokhori area, within the municipality of Kileler.
A total of 32 firefighters with 10 vehicles have been dispatched to the scene, with a helicopter assisting from the air.
Traffic violations on the rise
Police data indicate a rise in dangerous traffic violations in Western Greece during the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.
In the three regional units of Western Greece - Achaia, Ilia and Aetolia-Acarnania - a total of 21,681 dangerous violations were recorded, an increase from 21,171 in the previous year.

A 43-year-old man in western Greece who shot and killed his estranged wife with rifle before turning the gun on himself, is believed to have threatened to kill their 13-year-old daughter if she didn't return to the house, state-run broadcaster reported on Saturday.

The incident occurred in Amfilochia, in Aetolia-Acarnania regional unit, at around 4 a.m. Saturday.

Two men killed in car crash in Aetolia-Acarnania
Two men in their early 20s have been killed in road crash in the west of the country when the car they were travelling in left the road and crashed into a tree.
The fatal accident occurred on the provincial road between Stamna and Aitoliko in Aetolia-Acarnania.
