African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States

Climate change and its impact from a security perspective was the topic tackled on Wednesday by Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Melescanu at the works of the 37th session of the Joint Parliamentary Assembly - Africa, Caribbean, Pacific - European Union (ACP-EU), which took place in Bucharest.

The availability and capacity to actively contribute through parliamentary diplomacy to strengthening EU relations with the African, Caribbean and Pacific group of states was central theme of talks held Thursday by Chairman of the Romanian Senate Calin Popescu-Tariceanu with a group of senior representatives of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (ACP-EU).

On 22 June 2018, the Council adopted the negotiating mandate for the future agreement between the EU and the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries. Formal negotiations will start by the end of August 2018, as provided by the current agreement, the Cotonou Agreement.

Bulgaria and Vanuatu will establish diplomatic relations - this was agreed in Lomé, Togo, the foreign ministers of the two countries Ekaterina Zaharieva and Ralph Regenvanu, the press center of the MFA announced.
