Four arrests after police raid drug traffickers’ house
A drug trafficking criminal organization was dismantled by the police on Thursday in Agia Varvara, west of Athens.
Four people were arrested, while the case file includes two more, who are accused of membership in the organization, perjury, forgery and violation of the arms law.
Larissa man arrested over dog abuse
A case file has been formed against a man from the central Greek town of Larissa for allegedly tying his dog with a strap to the bumper of his truck and dragging it around.
He was arrested on Sunday and charged with violating laws for the protection of pets.

Drugs raid in Agia Varvara leads to 17 arrests
The Hellenic Police (ELAS) made at least 17 arrests on Tuesday in the area of Agia Varvara, western Athens, in a large-scale operation by its narcotics division in which officers from the EKAM counterterrorism unit also participated.
Searches were carried out in 15 houses which yielded quantities of drugs (over a kilogram of cocaine and ecstasy tablets) and large sums of money.

Covid concern after police break up outdoor gatherings
Αuthorities are concerned about a trend involving large groups of young people gathering in squares with alcohol from bars and cafes offering takeaway services, with a square in Agia Paraskevi, north of Athens, being closed indefinitely after two nights of parties that culminated in clashes with police.
Newspaper publisher's car firebombed in western Athens
The car of a newspaper publisher was firebombed on Tuesday night, in the suburb of Agia Varvara, western Athens.
No injuries were immediately reported.
The arson attack happened at about 9 p.m., with local residents reporting hearing a loud explosion.
Power pole vandalism leaves migrant camp in darkness
A migrant camp near the small town of Agia Varvara in the regional unit of Imathia, central Macedonia, was left without electricity on Wednesday after unknown individuals chainsawed a wooden power pole located outside the camp and damaged two more.
Maintainance crews who were called at the camp found one power pole had fallen down.
Two ATMs blown open in Athens in early hours
Two cash dispensers were targeted in the early hours of Thursday in separate parts of the Greek capital by unknown assailants who blew open the machines and made off with the money inside.

Former soccer player nabbed over counterfeit goods
Police in Athens announced on Tuesday that they arrested a former Greek international soccer player last Wednesday after he was found in possession of counterfeit consumer goods.
According to reports, Christos Patsatzoglou, 40, was stopped by officers of the the DIAS motorcycle unit in the western suburb of Aghia Varvara.
