Gov’t extends power bill subsidies for households, farmers in November

The government said it will extend power bill subsidies for households and farmers in November, despite a fall in energy prices from last year, as conflict in the Middle East created upside risks.

It has spent more than €10 billion since the middle of 2021, mainly in subsidizing electricity and gas bills, to support households, businesses and farmers.

EU court awards Greece deferred farming subsidies

The European Union Court of Justice has ruled in favor of awarding a total of 435 million euros in farming subsidies to Greece after upholding Greek appeals against previous convictions that had led to the aid being withheld.

The court made two decisions, one issued on February 13 and another on April 30, in response to two appeals by Greece's State Legal Council.

Bulgaria Allows New Delay in Selection of Auditor of Agricultural Subsidies

Bulgaria may lose a part of a total of over EUR 1.3 B in EU subsidies for agriculture paid by the state due to yet another delay in the selection of an external auditor.

The current situation seems to be a repeat of the last-minute selection of Deloitte Bulgaria as a certifying authority for the EU subsidies for agriculture paid in the period October 2013 - October 2014.
