Air France will go ahead and cut hundreds of jobs as planned next year under the first part of a restructuring plan that has triggered violent protests, the chief executive of Air France-KLM said on Oct. 18.

Air France-KLM's human resources manager was "almost lynched" Oct. 5 by striking workers, who stripped him of his shirt in a protest over the ailing airline's plan to cut 2,900 jobs.

New York City’s busy airports were the target of several anonymous reports on Monday of international flight arrivals containing chemical weapons. Expectedly, the US air command scrambled jet fighters, with planes escorting one Air France passenger jet into JFK.
