Michael Rousseau, President and CEO of Air Canada, has been elected as the new Chair of the Star Alliance Chief Executive Board, succeeding Scott Kirby, CEO of United Airlines, who held the position since December 2020.

Turkey's flag carrier Turkish Airlines named as a 2020 Five-Star Global Airline by Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX), a major airline passengers group.         

A new codeshare agreement between Turkish Airlines and Bangkok Airways was signed on Aug. 1, Turkey's national flag carrier announced.

Turkish Airlines and Hong Kong Airlines signed a codeshare agreement in Istanbul on Oct. 29, the Turkey's national flag carrier said in a statement.

Turkish Airlines has been named the "Best Airline in Europe" for the fifth year in a row by Skytrax, which is recognized by the aviation industry for its global ranking system which tracks customer satisfaction of airlines service and performance around the world, the company said in a written statement on June 16. 

Turkish Airlines (THY), Turkey's national flag-carrier, will begin direct flights to Miami on Oct. 25, the company announced on May 13.

The move makes Miami the company's 12th destination in the Americas, on top of existing services to Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Toronto, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, Boston, Montreal and San Francisco.

Pilots of German Lufthansa airlines have announced their plans on Sunday to start a 35-hour strike, Monday in their continuing dispute over retirement benefits.
