The decision by German authorities to increase security checks of passengers arriving from Greece at airports around the country appears to have cast a shadow over relations with Berlin.

Fraport, which in April signed a 1.23 billion euro deal to operate 14 regional airports in Greece, could seek compensation from the Greek state for damage to buildings and infrastructure that allegedly occurred during the takeover.

The plane was due to depart Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport at 7.25 Sunday morning, but passengers were informed shortly before take off that a “direct threat” had been made against the airport.

A Japanese Airlines plane traveling to New York returned safely today to Tokyo after the pilot reported that a bird had hit one of the engines during takeoff, the Associated Press reported.
