‘Jazz in Turkey’ documentary offered online
As part of the April 30 International Jazz Day celebrations, the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) offers the documentary "Jazz in Turkey" online for two months on its YouTube channel.
Directed by Batu Akyol, "Jazz in Turkey" was premiered in 2013, with the 20th Istanbul Jazz Festival.

Two Turkish citizens die from coronavirus in UK, Austria
Two Turkish citizens living in the U.K. and Austria have lost their lives due to the novel coronavirus.
Speaking to state-run Anadolu Agency, Ozan Ceyhun, Turkey's ambassador to Vienna, said that a 28-year-old woman, identified as Yonca Akyol, lost her life.
Akyol is the first Turkish citizen to die of coronavirus in Austria.
Electoral amendments change fair play rules for parties

Turkish writer Mustafa Akyol stated on Sept. 26 that he was detained by police in Malaysia for 18 hours before being released.
"It is true. Thank God I am now free after 18 hours in detention. Thanks so much to all who helped, supported, and prayed," Akyol tweeted on Sept. 26.
Turkey's first female minister Türkan Akyol dies aged 89
Türkan Akyol, who was the country's first female minister and university rector, died in the capital Ankara on Sept. 7. She was 89.
Professor Akyol, an academic and politician, had been receiving treatment at Hacettepe University Hospital for a while.
Akyol will be laid to rest in the Karşıyaka Cemetery in Ankara on Sept. 8.

The year was 1969; the incident I am going to tell happened that year during the beginning of an election campaign. Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Ali İhsan Göğüş paid a visit to party chair İsmet İnönü at his home and presented the candidate list to him that was to be handed over to the election council. Two journalists were accompanying him.
