A man who was kidnapped at age six while playing in a park in California in 1951 was found seven decades later, thanks to the help of an online test, old photos, and newspaper clippings.

Spell-casting is fairly common in Tanzania, which has the highest percentage of albino population in the world. There are many who cast spells using an albino's limb or skin in the hopes of rising to a prominent position or reaping a handsome profit.

Visitors to a Swiss zoo caught a glimpse on June 3 of a rare albino Galapagos giant tortoise born in May.

The baby tortoise may be a unique sight to behold with fair skin and red eyes. It weighs around 50 grams and fits in the palm of one's hand.

The ghostly white giraffes seem otherworldly with their lack of colouring and markings.
Their appearance is a result of a genetic condition called leucism in which there is a partial loss of pigmentation.

When Rosamere Fernanda de Andrade first held her newborn baby she assumed there had been a mix up.  Rosamere and ex-husband, Joao, are both black – but their daughter, Ruth, had white skin, blonde hair and blue eyes. But it was no mistake – Ruth, suffers from a rare generic condition called albinism and has no skin pigment.

The UN human rights chief on March 10 strongly condemned a surge in attacks in east Africa on albinos, whose body parts are often used for witchcraft.
      
The statement came after police in Tanzania arrested seven suspects over a brutal weekend assault in which a six-year-old albino boy's hand was hacked off with a machete.
