Zythognosia: A beer lovers’ meeting at Zappeion
Zappeion Hall will host on the 14th and 15th of October the 4th Athens Craft Beer Expo “Zythognosia”, were beer lovers will have the chance to taste Greek and foreign beers alike, as a very large number of microbrewers will participate in the event in order to present their products for the very first time.

Beer from Greek microbreweries gaining popularity at home and abroad
On a recent voyage in the Aegean, I was quite excited to notice the bar of the ship we were traveling in had a wide variety of Greek beers to chose from, including two from microbreweries. They were quite delicious. Later, at a restaurant in a mountain village on a small island, we were even more surprised when we spotted a locally made ale on the menu.

In the last couple of years, thanks to machine-to-machine information technologies, we have begun to hear about very interesting new phenomena. The latest one I have heard about is "Internet of Beer." When I first heard about it, I thought, that's it, everything has been invented, we as mankind can invent nothing else, we have hit our technological nirvana.

Customs officers Found over 260 Liters of Illegally Produced Alcohol from an Internet Ad
Customs officials from Lom have retained 266 liters of home-made alcohol (rakia) after they posed themselves as customers who want to buy alcohol, officials from the Customs Agency said. Reported SEGA.
Policemen from Vidin participated in the action. A sale of home-made rakia has been posted on two websites. The customs officers contacted the seller and agreed to buy 10 liters.
Greek court hands Heineken record fine for market abuse
A Greek court has imposed a €26.7m fine on Heineken subsidiary Athenian Brewery for abusing its dominant position in the Greek beer market over more than two decades.
In 2004, the Hellenic Competition Commission (HCC) opened an ex-officio investigation into the alleged market abuses of Heineken’s local subsidiary.
Greeks turn to cheap, traditional spirits
Traditional Greek spirits like raki, ouzo and tsipouro are attracting more drinkers in Greece as they are more affordable for those struggling financially due to the crisis, according to recent research which found that the cheaper spirits have also become the preferred drink among those suffering from alcoholism.

Police raid Istanbul wedding hall over bootleg alcohol, detain five suspects
Gendarmerie forces on April 10 raided a wedding hall that included an underground bootleg alcohol plant in Istanbul's Başakşehir district, detaining five suspects, Doğan News Agency has reported.
Thousands of liters of bootleg alcohol stored in industrial bottles and ready for delivery across Turkey was seized during the raid.
“Oenorama 2017” and “Athens Wine Week”
The biggest Greek wine exhibition “Oenorama 2017”, which was established in 1994, is a point of reference for wine enthusiasts in Greece. This year the world famous event will take place from March 11th to 13th at the Zappeion Exhibition Hall in Athens.
