Alliance of Civilizations

A UN official on Aug. 7 praised Turkey for using multilateral cooperation to fight against all forms of intolerance and working for the intercultural "Alliance of Civilizations" initiative.

The High Representative of the UN's Alliance of Civilizations will visit Turkey on Feb. 4 and 5 upon an invitation by Turkish foreign minister, the ministry said on Feb. 3

The 4thWorld Forum on Intercultural Dialogue will be held on 5-6 May in Baku under the auspices of H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in cooperation with UNESCO, UN Alliance of Civilizations, UN World Tourism Organization, Council of Europe, ISESCO, North-South Center of the Council of Europe, Republic of Azerbaijan.

Istanbul should be the center of the United Nations, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said in a written statement on the 71st year of its foundation. 

The United Nations' Alliance of Civilizations is far away from attaining its foundational targets, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an said April 26.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an is set to pay visits to Baku and Zagreb, first attending a global forum meeting of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) in the capital of neighboring Azerbaijan.

While in Croatia, Erdo?an will be accompanied by a large business delegation and attend a meeting of the Turkey-Croatia Business Forum. 

Time flies... It was nearly a decade ago that Turkish and Spanish leaders institutionalized their efforts to build interfaith dialogue and peace between the Islamic and Western worlds. Since then, at least a couple of million (overwhelmingly Muslim) people have been killed (overwhelmingly by Muslims in sectarian and other wars).

Spain's ambassador to Turkey has refuted media reports suggesting that his country has suspended its activities in the "Alliance of Civilizations" jointly launched by Ankara and Madrid. 

Spain will reportedly suspend its activities in the "Alliance of Civilizations," jointly launched by Turkey and Spain in 2005.

The Spanish government has issued an order to not to give importance to the meetings, Do?an News Agency reported, arguing that the initiative" has lost its significance."
