İzmir's historical Gas Factory in Alsancak will host the İzmir Coffee Festival, which will take place on May 27, 28 and 29. There will also be concerts by popular musicians, workshops and coffee talks during the event, where 90 brands will offer their coffees to the participants.

Turkey delivers the first phase residences and shops to the earthquake victims in the western province of İzmir, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Nov. 26.

"After the İzmir earthquake, we decided to build a total of 5,074 residences and 353 shops. We promised to start delivering them within a year," Erdoğan said, attending the earthquake housing delivery ceremony in İzmir.

From sumptuous terraces overlooking the Kordon, İzmir's waterfront, to dingy half-closed decks that one could barely fit a raki table, balconies have always been part of life for Izmirians.

A band plays lively music on İzmir's Kıbrıs Şehitleri Street, a smaller version of Istanbul's İstiklal, in front of the Alsancak Bakery.

?zmir's Alsancak Port will be privatized in a tender in the first half of 2016 in line with a revised development plan, according to officials. 

A new plan put into place by the Environment and Urbanization Ministry and accepted by the ?zmir Metropolitan Municipality will allow buildings in the Konak district of the Aegean province?s largest city to be built 10 meters taller.
