'Istanbul's 3,000 buildings teeter on edge of collapse'
An estimated 2,000 to 3,000 buildings in Istanbul are on the brink of collapse, experts have cautioned.
The warning comes after a three-story building in Küçükçekmece collapsed suddenly, resulting in one death and eight injuries. The building collapsed around 8:40 a.m., prompting a large-scale emergency response involving health, fire, police and search and rescue teams.
Türkiye's first female treasury director passes away
Aysel Öymen, Türkiye's first female director general of the Treasury and wife of journalist and former Republican People's Party (CHP) chairman Altan Öymen, has passed away at the age of 96.
Öymen graduated from Ankara University's Faculty of Political Sciences, held various diplomatic posts abroad and became Türkiye's first female director general of the Treasury in 1978.
Artist takes paintings back after 26 years
One of the pioneers of modern Turkish painting, Professor Özdemir Altan, 91, was given back 33 of his paintings, which were seized at the customs during their entry into Turkey after being exhibited in German 26 years ago.

Turkish appeals court overturns rulings on journalists
Turkey's Supreme Court of Appeals on April 14 overturned a decision on journalists Ahmet Altan and Nazli Ilıcak, who were given jail time for links to the FETÖ.
Ilıcak had been sentenced to eight years and nine months and Altan had gotten 10 years and six months in prison for aiding the terror group, which was behind the 2016 defeated coup in Turkey
Turkish Red Crescent opens new office in northern Iraq
Turkish Red Crescent on Jan. 31 opened its new office in Iraq's northern province of Erbil.
The opening ceremony was attended by Turkish Red Crescent head İbrahim Altan, Turkey's Consul General in Erbil Hakan Karacay, and other officials.
Altan said they have been carrying out relief work in Erbil since 2016.

Ahmet Altan re-arrested a week after his release
Novelist and former editor-in-chief of Taraf newspaper Ahmet Altan, who was convicted of "aiding" FETÖ, was detained at his home in Istanbul after a court sustained an objection to his release and revoked the release order on Nov. 12.
Altan was released from Silivri Prison following his retrial for "aiding" FETÖ, the group which orchestrated the July 15, 2016 defeated coup attempt.

A Turkish court on Nov. 4 ordered the release of Ahmet Altan, a novelist and former editor-in-chief of Taraf newspaper, and Nazlı Ilıcak, a columnist and former parliamentarian, under judicial control.
Turkey’s top court rejects individual appeals of sentenced journalists
Turkey's Constitutional Court has rejected the individual appeals of journalists Nazlı Ilıcak and Ahmet Altan on May 3, finding no rights violations in their lawsuits filed for aiding the plotters of a 2016 failed coup attempt, while ruling for a violation of rights in the case of Ali Bulaç, a former columnist of closed Zaman newspaper.
