An international working group is going to hold a specific meeting to deal with the foreign fighters and their family members captured in Syria, the Turkish foreign minister has announced, underlining that Turkey is fully ready to cooperate with all countries on the continued fight against ISIL.

Burak Bilgehan Ozpek, a professor of international relations at Ankara's TOBB University, said that, like the issue of Syrian refugees and their flow through Turkey to the European Union, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan would use the ISIS fighters as leverage for Western acquiescence to his policy on neighbouring Syria.

In an area of northwestern Syria supposed to be free of acts of aggression, on Nov. 17 at least nine civilians were killed and 10 injured in Russian airstrikes, a local civil defense agency said.

The U.S. on Nov. 14 vowed to continue leading the ISIL coalition on its "essential security effort" while acknowledging significant milestones the multinational body has accomplished.

Germany and the Netherlands have pledged to accept ISIL members and their families captured by Turkey, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said on Nov. 13 as Ankara started to repatriate the fighters this week.

France will take back 11 suspected French ISIL members from Turkey, Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said on Nov. 12, a day after Ankara said it was deporting foreign citizens linked to the group.

Russia on Nov. 12 accused the U.S. of attempting to separate Syria from its oil-rich regions.

Turkey on Nov. 11 started a program of repatriation of foreign ISIL fighters, with a U.S. citizen deported in the early morning and a German and a Denmark national were to be deported on the same day, Interior Ministry spokesman İsmail Çataklı told Anadolu Agency.

Less than 1,000 U.S. service members will remain in northern Syria to ensure the lasting defeat of the ISIL terror group, U.S. Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark Milley said in remarks aired on Nov. 10.

A Dutch F-16 jet serving with the US-led coalition in Iraq killed about 70 people - Islamic State (IS) militants and civilians - in an air strike in 2015, the Dutch defence ministry says.
