Romanian tennis player Simona Halep claimed her victory with the number 400 on a main WTA draw, 3-6 6-4 6-0 over Caroline Garcia (France) in the second round of the Miami Open on Thursday, according to the official website of the women's professional circuit (WTA). Romanian tennis player Patricia Maria Tig won the July 2019 shot of the month, in a poll on the WTA website. Tig, who returned in the limelight after winning the title at Liqui Moly Open Karlsruhe and playing the final in Bucharest, gathered the most votes for a cross shot in the semifinal at the BRD Bucharest Open against German Laura Siegemund, at score 6-2, 2-1.

Simona Halep wins Heart Award at Fed Cup
The Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, world number three, won the Heart Award on Monday after her remarkable victory in the Czech Republic Fed Cup first round, according to the official website of the competition. Halep had their counter-candidates, following the World and World Group II matches, Latvian Anastasija Sevastova, Spanish Georgina Garcia-Perez and Australian Ashleigh Barty.

Krunic fails to reach Brisbane semi-finals
BRISBANE - Serbian tennis player Aleksandra Krunic has ended her campaign at the Brisbane WTA tournament after losing 6-2, 6-4 to Latvian Anastasija Sevastova in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
Failing to emulate her excellent performances from the previous two rounds, when she knocked out German Carina Witthoeft and Spanard Garbine Muguruza, Krunic was defeated after 87 minutes.
