Djokovic off to winning start in Melbourne

MELBOURNE - Serbia's Novak Djokovic has got off to a successful start to his Australian Open title defence with a routine 6-1, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 victory over Spaniard Fernando Verdasco on Tuesday.

In an excellent display, Djokovic - who has six Australian Open titles - won after two hours and 23 minutes of play and is now 10-4 head-to-head against Verdasco.

MELBOURNE - Serbia's Novak Djokovic will begin his Australian Open title defence against Spaniard Fernando Verdasco.

If he wins, Djokovic - a six-time champion in Melbourne - will face the winner of the match between Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin and a qualifier.

Djokovic saves five match points to advance to Doha final

DOHA - Serbia's Novak Djokovic will be defending his Doha title in the final of the ATP tennis tournament after saving five match points to knock out Spaniard Fernando Verdasco 4-6, 7-6 (9-7), 6-3 in the semi-final on Friday.

In the final, he will face the winner of the match between Briton Andy Murray and Czech Tomas Berdych.

Djokovic through to Doha semis

DOHA - Serbia's top-ranked male tennis player Novak Djokovic is through to the semi-finals of the Doha ATP tournament after defeating seasoned Czech veteran Radek Stepanek 6-3, 6-3 on Thursday.

Title defender Djokovic won after 93 minutes of play and is now 13-1 head-to-head against Stepanek.

Djokovic eases past Zeballos to advance to Doha quarters

DOHA - Serbia's Novak Djokovic is through to the quarter-finals at the Doha ATP tennis tournament after beating Horacio Zeballos of Argentina 6-3, 6-4 on Wednesday.

Title defender Djokovic won the match after just 73 minutes of play.

Djokovic gets off to winning start in 2017

DOHA - Serbia's Novak Djokovic has got off to a successful start in 2017 after beating Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff (7-6 (7-1), 6-3) at the Doha ATP tournament Monday.

In a bid to reach the quarter-finals, title defender Djokovic - who won after an hour and a half of play - will face the winner of the match between Horacio Zeballos of Argentina and Florian Meyer of Germany.

Murray claims London title, clinches ATP top spot

LONDON - For the first time in his career, Britain's Andy Murray is set to finish a year as the world number one in men's tennis after beating Serbia's Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-4 in the final of the ATP World Tour Finals in London late Sunday.

Murray won after 104 minutes of play and is now 11-35 head-to-head against Djokovic.
