Achtsioglou’s nod to claims by pensioners
Labor and Social Security Minister Effie Achtsioglou said on Tuesday it was possible that some of the dues that 2.5 million pensioners are demanding dating to the period from 2015 to 2016 will be paid out.

Newspaper publisher Themos Anastasiades dies, aged 61
Greek newspaper publisher and journalist Themos Anastasiades died on Tuesday, aged 61, after 18 months of fighting cancer. He published the daily Proto Thema.
Anastasiades graduated from the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and proceeded to work as a political and economic reporter in several newspapers.
Court ruling spells end for broadcaster Mega
In a ruling issued by the Council of State on Friday, it rejected an appeal by private television channel Mega against a decision by the National Broadcasting Council (ESR) to suspend the indebted channel's operation.
Responding to the appeal by Mega and 112 employees, the court noted that a law passed last year dictates that channels must have a license in order to operate.

E-platform for short-term rentals ready by end-August

Greek prosecutor orders probe into reality show
An Athens prosecutor has ordered an investigation into whether the "Game of Love" reality TV show that is broadcast on ANT1 is in violation of anti-obscenity laws.
The probe launched on Wednesday will examine the role of ANT1 executives and whether the National Council for Radio and Television (ESR) which monitors TV content was in breach of duty.

Five TV channels granted temporary broadcasting permit, one rejected
Greece's broadcasting regulator, the National Council for Radio and Television (ESR), approved on Wednesday the applications of five media companies to receive a temporary nationwide broadcasting license, following a meeting of its board.
UK Ambassador blasts Koufodinas leave decision
UK ambassador to Greece Kate Smith voiced her strong opposition to the second furlough granted on Friday to November 17 hitman Dimitris Koufodinas.
In a message on Twitter the British diplomat wrote: "It's extremely disheartening to see an unrepentant convicted terrorist coming out of prison again."

Six media firms apply for TV permits, Mega stays out
Representatives of six media companies submitted applications on Thursday to the National Broadcasting Council (ESR) in Athens for a forthcoming tender for private television licenses.
The six applications were from the companies representing Skai, Star, Alpha, ANT1 and Epsilon and from a firm called Tileoptiki Elliniki.
