TAV serves over 14 million passengers in first quarter
Airports operated by TAV Havalimanları have served 14.2 million passengers in the January-March period, pointing to a 42 percent increase from a year earlier.
International passengers grew 74 percent in the first quarter year-on-year to 7.43 million, while the domestic passenger tally increased by 18 percent to 6.75 million, the company said.
AIIB provides loan for Antalya Airport expansion
The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has signed a 140-million-euro loan with Fraport TAV Antalya Yatırım, Yapım ve İşletme (FTA) for the expansion and modernization of Antalya's Airport to improve airport service and the availability of travel options.

Total passenger traffic at Türkiye's airports increased by 42 percent last year from 2021 to 182 million, data from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ).

Istanbul Airport ranked busiest in Europe
Istanbul Airport has been ranked as the busiest airport in Europe with 1,310 flights between Aug. 24 and 30, according to data from EUROCONTROL.
According to the weekly report, which also compares the flight performances before the pandemic, many airports in Europe lagged far behind 2019 figures, while Istanbul Airport increased its flights by 2 percent.

Antalya Airport’s capacity to be expanded
The airport in the province of Antalya, on the Mediterranean coast, will be expanded to serve more passengers, while Russian tour operators plan to use the airport for connecting flights to third countries in winter.

Turkey's airports serve 17.7 mln passengers in Q1
The number of air passengers in Turkey - including transit passengers - totaled 17.68 million in the first quarter of 2021, the country's airport authority announced on April 7.
The figure was around 33.6 million in the same period last year.

The cost of a taxi ride from Athens International Airport (AIA) to the city center is around the European average, according to travel website AirMundo which compared the rates at the 50 busiest airports in Europe for its annual summer report.
Istanbul's Atatürk Airport sees highest passenger rise among top five European airports
Istanbul's Atatürk Airport saw the highest increase in passenger numbers in July out of all five major European airports, the European airport trade body announced on Sept. 13.
Other airports in Turkey also showed significant increase in passenger numbers in July, including Istanbul's Sabiha Gökçen, the Antalya Airport and Ankara's Esenboğa, according to the report.
Turkey sees large rise in air passengers
The number of passengers passing through Turkish airports rose 9.1 percent annually in the first eight months of 2017, the country's airport authority announced on Sept. 7.
Turkish airports served more than 127 million people between January and August, up from 116.5 million in the same period last year, according to the General Directorate of State Airports Authority.
