Alperen Şengün signs $185 million deal with Rockets

Houston Rockets' Turkish center Alperen Şengün has committed his future to the team with a lucrative five-year, $185 million contract extension, the NBA team announced on Oct. 21.

The deal, which also includes a player option in the final season, makes Şengün the highest-earning Turkish athlete in history.

Lakers rout Warriors, Heat rip Knicks

Anthony Davis and LeBron James powered the Los Angeles Lakers in a rout of defending champion Golden State on May 6 while Jimmy Butler returned from an ankle injury to spark Miami's romp over New York in the NBA playoffs.

Bojan Bogdanovic scored 35 points, and the visiting Utah Jazz won their sixth straight game, defeating the New Orleans Pelicans, 128-126 on Jan. 6.

The Jazz, who won for the 11th time in their last 12 games, held the Pelicans scoreless for the final 1:27. Rudy Gobert, who finished with 19 rebounds, disrupted Brandon Ingram's attempted tying layup with one second left.

Aşık double-double helps Pelicans beat Hornets

Turkish center Ömer Aşık continued his double-double performances on Nov. 4, posting 10 points and 11 rebounds as the New Orleans Pelicans beat the Charlotte Hornets 100-91.

Anthony Davis led the home side with 24 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks, and for the second time in three home games, Davis was saluted with the MVP chant from the crowd.
