Drones enlisted in mosquito war in western Greece
Satellites, drones and geographic information systems (GIS) are being deployed as part of an ambitious program to combat mosquitoes in regions of western and southwestern Greece.
The program's main goal is to safeguard public health from malaria and West Nile virus by monitoring mosquitoes and bird populations.

Firefighters battle blaze in Achaia after large fire on Evia
Firefighters on Monday were seeking to douse a blaze that broke out in the early hours near the village of Araxos in western Achaia, in the Peloponnese.
A team of 16 firefighters, manning eight engines, were involved in the effort to put out the fire, with the help of two water-dropping aircraft.
Only two small airports can woo investors
Araxos and Kalamata are the only two out of the 23 small airports around the country that appear likely to attract investor interest, as the vast majority of them seem to be of very little commercial vale, according to the valuation commissioned by state privatization fund TAIPED that was presented on Friday.
