Indian-Greek venture to start work on new Crete airport next year, says source
A Greek-Indian consortium has been awarded the contract to build a new airport on the island of Crete, a consortium official said on Friday.
Ariadne Airport Group, a joint venture between India's GMR Airports and Greek contractor GEK Terna, was the preferred bidder for the 850 million euro project and will begin construction at the start of next year.

A ferry boat heading to the eastern Aegean islands of Chios and Lesvos was forced to return to Piraeus on Friday night for a technical inspection after crashing into a pier during its departure.
According to the Merchant Marine Ministry, the 9 p.m. crash was witnessed and reported by passengers on board, forcing the Ariadne ferry's captain to return to port.
