Court Approves European Arrest Warrant for Former Bulgarian Development Bank Head

The Sofia City Court has granted permission for the issuance of a European Arrest Warrant for Bulgarian national Stoyan Mavrodiev, the former executive director of the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB). The decision was made on November 25, following a request from the Sofia Prosecution Office, which had sought the warrant on November 11.

A man wanted for 16 years returned to Greece and was arrested

He thought that, after 16 long years, his conviction for circulating counterfeit currency would be forgotten by a 52-year-old (now) Nigerian man who had managed to flee to Turkey, but decided to return to Greece. He did not know, however, that the warrant for his arrest was in force.

Three Bulgarians Arrested for Desecrating Paris Holocaust Memorial

Three Bulgarians suspected of desecrating the Holocaust memorial in Paris in mid-May have been detained, according to the State Agency "National Security" (SANS). The arrests took place on July 25 through a coordinated effort by Bulgaria's State Security Service and the Ministry of the Interior.

Prison officer suspended

A police officer who was arrested for participating in a criminal organization that imported drugs, cellphones and money into Ioannina Prison in northwestern Greece was suspended by Hellenic Police Headquarters on Thursday. According to a relevant announcement, an internal investigation into the police officer's activities has been ordered. 

Dacic: Serbian police have arrested man suspected of committing war crimes in Kosovo-Metohija in 1999

BELGRADE - Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said on Wednesday Serbian police had arrested a man suspected of committing war crimes against Yugoslav Army personnel in Kosovo-Metohija in May 1999.

Dacic explained the crimes had been committed in the area of the Kosare village.
