The Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation (goulandris.gr) has joined forces with major European museums and is presenting, for the first time in Greece, a tribute to the Neo-Impressionism art movement, with a focus on the Mediterranean region, at its art museum in Pangrati.
Takashi Murakami loves and fears AI
Neo-pop art superstar Takashi Murakami has always embraced new technology and was an early adopter of crypto and NFTs, but even he admits fearing that AI might make him obsolete.
Murakami, 61, has become a brand unto himself thanks to his loveable technicolor paintings that mix traditional Japanese art motifs with modern anime and manga.

Costakis Collection | Thessaloniki | June 8 – November 12
The Thessaloniki Museum of Modern Art takes over the Moni Lazariston venue with an exhibition of pieces and archives from its famed Costakis Collection of Russian avant-garde art - arguably one of the best of its kind in the world. "50+1 Stories" goes back to the Greek collector's archives to explore the entire era and how it was expressed in different forms of art.

Regarded as a pioneer of the Arte Povera movement, Italy's Pier Paolo Calzolari is showing work for the sixth time at the Bernier/Eliades Gallery (bernier-eliades.com), through January 26. Titled "Demons and Dew," his new show is described by the curator as "a meditation on the transience and delicate beauty of everyday life."

Mondrian painting hanging upside down for 77 years
A painting by Dutch abstract painter Piet Mondrian has been hanging upside down for 77 years, says a curator at the German museum.
A large retrospective of the avant garde artist's work went on display Saturday at the Kunstsammlung museum in Dusseldorf, and one of the pieces on show is "New York City 1," painted in 1941.

France approves returning 15 artworks stolen from Jews
The French senate on Feb. 15 approved the return of 15 artworks looted from Jews during World War II, as part of efforts by the government to accelerate restitutions.
The vote authorizes public museums holding the works, including the world-famous Musee d'Orsay in Paris, to hand over the property to the heirs of the original owners.
Expo 2020 Dubai/ Romania's Pavilion - design inspired by Brancusi; materials used to be recycled
Romania's Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai (October 1 - March 31, 2022) was built in the spirit of maximum simplicity, "a purity that is inspired by Brancusi's legacy", and the materials used will be recycled at the end of the exhibition, Adrian Soare, the pavilion's architect, said on Monday. The concept is "New Nature", transposed into design.
