It would be a mistake to file away the "Artemis Sorras phenomenon" in the annals of history as just another huge scam that is now in the process of being broken up thanks to a major judicial investigation and a separate court conviction that has led to a warrant being issued for the arrest of the self-proclaimed trillionaire.

The Greek Parliament has voted to lift the parliamentary immunity of Golden Dawn MP Artemis Matthaiopoulos to face charges of robbery.

During a vote Wednesday, 198 of the 203 deputies present backed the decision. Four MPs voted against and one present.

Matthaiopoulos denied the charges which he said are politically-motivated.

Former Golden Dawn legislator Stathis Boukouras on Monday refused to answer magistrates’ questions when he faced them on charges of illegal possession of a weapon and insisted that he had been wrongly implicated in crimes linked to the neo-Nazi party, claiming to have tried to hang himself twice in pretrial custody.
