Trapper handed suspended sentence for life-threatening assault

A well-known trapper and an accomplice who attacked and seriously injured a student in a Thessaloniki nightclub in January have been handed a three-year suspended sentence after being found guilty of a misdemeanor charge of grievous bodily harm.

The trapper, 25, and his friend, 24, were released from custody, following sentencing at Giannitsa Mixed Court.

Parents arrested in Agrinio for abusing children

A 30-year-old father was arrested in Agrinio, central Greece, on Saturday after allegedly attacking his 12-year-old daughter with a knife and burning her with a cigarette. 

He is also accused of physically assaulting four of his other children, aged 6, 9, 10 and 11, in front of their 29-year-old mother, who has also been detained. 

Man arrested for hate crime

A 65-year-old man has appeared before an Athens prosecutor for insulting, threatening and physically assaulting a 27-year-old man apparently because of the victim's sexual orientation.

On Sunday, the man, together with another person, had made abusive gestures from his car at the 27-year-old man and another person aimed at their sexual identity before driving off.

An acid attack occurred on Monday against a 14-year-old girl in London – outside the school she attends – and a 16-year-old who was with her, which left the girl and a school worker seriously injured.

The girl remains in hospital with potentially “life-changing” injuries to her health and appearance.

Apostolos Lytras: Released on bail – Referred to trial for misdemeanor, not felony

The council downgraded the initial felony charge of grievous bodily harm, related to the assault on his wife, Sofia Polyzogopoulou, to a misdemeanor—specifically, intentional domestic endangerment causing bodily harm. As a result, Lytras will now be tried in a Single-Member Misdemeanor Court rather than a Mixed Jury Court.

Pernik Man Arrested for Brutal Assault on Woman in Front of Newborn

A 45-year-old man from Pernik has been arrested for inflicting bodily harm in a case of domestic violence, according to the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The incident occurred late last night on "Targovska" street, when a 39-year-old woman was assaulted by the man she lived with, in front of their newborn child.
