Greek composer Jannos Eolou's internationally acclaimed "Tangos of the Magic Reality" makes its Athens debuts with the ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra at the Athens Conservatoire (17-19 Vasileos Georgiou B) on March 21. Exploring a blend of global and Argentinean influences, Eolou's 18 orchestral themes evoke the literary and visual expressions of magical realism.

Upfront conference in Athens to examine workplace discrimination
The third Upfront Initiative forum, themed "Visibility in Practice," is taking place this Thursday at the Athens Conservatoire (Rigillis & 17-19 Vassileos Georgiou B), under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic.

Greek composer and multi-instrumentalist Theodore will present his brand-new project at the Athens Conservatoire's (athensconservatoire.gr) New Stage. His albums "It Is But It's Not" and "Inner Dynamics" became internationally acclaimed, while NPR Music placed him among its "Favorite Discoveries and Memorable Moments" in 2018.

Forest Swords | Athens | November 28
Electronic producer and composer Matthew Barnes, aka Forest Swords, returns with his long-awaited new single "Butterfly Effect." Part industrial electronica, part bleak greyscale pop, with "Butterfly Effect," Forest Swords' world shifts deeper into murkier musical territory, with a previously unheard vocal sample by the singer-songwriter Neneh Cherry.

Art Book Fair | Athens | October 6-8
Since 2019, the Athens Art Book Fair has been showcasing artists who push the boundaries of traditional books and explore a variety of experimental forms. This year's edition hosts over 80 exhibitors, as well as a collective display featuring more than 50 artists from Greece and across the world, including the US, Spain, Japan, Prague, Portugal, Argentina, Peru, Tunisia and more.

Greek Muse | Athens | February 8
Soprano Myrsini Margariti and pianist Effie Agrafioti present "Greek Muse: Songs by Greek Female Composers and Female Composers of Greek Decent" at the Aris Garoufalis Hall of the Athens Conservatoire in downtown Athens on Saturday, February 8. The concert is part of a series co-organized by the Greek National Opera's Alternative Stage and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

Bernd Alois Zimmermann | Athens | November 13-16
Following the success of its tribute to French composer Olivier Messiaen last March, the Goethe Institute has teamed up with the Athens Conservatory for a new tribute, this time to Germany's Bernd Alois Zimmermann (1918-70). Running from November 13 to 16 at the Conservatory premises, the series of events comprises concerts, lectures, film screenings and discussions.

Art Athina | Athens | To June 24
Greece's biggest annual art fair, Art Athina brings together 53 galleries showcasing the work of their associate artists, at the premises of the Athens Conservatory. The event, which includes video projections, open studios, workshops and talks, runs through Sunday, June 24, 12 noon to 9 p.m. Admission costs 8 euros.
