The Indie Playground Festival, part of the Athens Epidaurus Festival, returns for a second year to Playground 260 (260 Pireos) on June 1-2. The event features performances by renowned and emerging Greek indie, alternative rock, pop and electronica artists, including Larry Gus, Deaf Radio, AMKA, Whereswilder, Prompt, Kooba Tercu, Metaman and Vassilina. Admission is free.

Subset | Athens | June 10-14

The Athens Epidaurus Festival presents the multifaceted Subset Festival in co-production with the Athens Conservatoire (17-19 Vasileos Georgiou B). Diverse types of musical creations are incorporated into various artistic trends at the renovated conservatory venues, presenting soloists and ensembles, established and up-and-coming artists alike, and open-call workshops.

Anohni & The Johnsons | Athens | June 13

After a decade-long hiatus from live performances, English-born singer-songwriter Anohni reunites with The Johnsons at the Odeon of Herod Atticus (Dionysiou Aeropagiotou), as part of the Athens Epidaurus Festival (aefestival.gr). Since their formation in 1998, the group has fearlessly explored themes of animism and eco-feminism, blending genres from electronic to avant-classical.

Emanuel Ax, Leonidas Kavakos, Yo-Yo Ma | Athens | June 15

The Athens Epidaurus Festival (aefestival.gr) presents a spectacular show featuring three legends of classical music: The superstar classical trio of Emanuel Ax, Leonidas Kavakos and Yo-Yo Ma will perform on the stage of the Herodes Atticus Odeon (Dionysiou Aeropagitou) next to the Acropolis this summer.
