Last month was the hottest July on record, making it the fourteenth straight record-breaking month, a U.S. environmental agency reported on Aug. 12.

The monthly report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) also said that 2024 now has a 77 percent chance of being the warmest year on record.

July 2023 easily broke the record for the hottest month ever recorded on Earth, surpassing the previous record, which was July 2019, by 0.33°C.

Marked by heatwaves and wildfires around the world, last month's average air temperature was 0.72°C higher than the most recent July average from 1991 - 2020.

"The average minimum air temperature in August will have values above the long-term average, with its value on average being higher by about 1.3 degrees Celsius compared to the long-term average," as stated on the Hidmet website.

Monday was the world's hottest day on record, exceeding an average of 17 degrees Celsius (62.6 degrees Fahrenheit) for the first time, according to initial measurements taken on Tuesday by US meteorologists.

US researchers said the new record is the highest since systematic records of daily temperatures have been kept since the late 19th century.
