Türkiye's electric car producer Togg replaces board chairman

Fuat Tosyalı has been elected as the new head of Türkiye's electric vehicle producer, Togg.

Tosyalı, who is also head of the Turkish conglomerate, Tosyalı Holding, replaces Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, who was at the helm of the company since 2018, according to a statement from Togg.

Hisarcıklıoğlu heads the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB).

Engineering tests begin on new Turkish electric fastback sedan

Turkish electric car producer Togg said Thursday that engineering tests have begun on its fully electric fastback sedan at accredited centers in Türkiye and abroad.

The company is working tirelessly to bring the car, which was previewed on Dec. 27 and introduced under the name T10F, to users, said Togg's Chief Executive Officer Mehmet Gürcan Karakaş.

Auto sales reach record 1.23 million last year

Türkiye's auto market expanded more than 57 percent last year from 2022, with passenger cars and light commercial vehicle sales hitting an all-time high of 1.23 million.

From January to December 2023, a total of 967,342 passenger cars were sold in Türkiye, marking a robust 63.2 percent increase from the previous year.

Togg speeds up car deliveries in August

Türkiye's indigenous electric carmaker Togg delivered more cars in August than the previous three months combined.

The company delivered 1,965 T10X model cars last month, whereas the total deliveries stood at 1,435 in May, June and July.

Preorders for the Togg T10X were taken online from March 16 to 27, and some 177,000 vehicles were sold online.

Togg market leader in C-SUV segment

Togg, Türkiye's first indigenous electric car maker, sold 808 T10X model vehicles as of the end of June, making the company the market leader in the electric C-SUV segment.

The company delivered 808 vehicles in May and June and captured a share of 28.9 percent in the local C-SUV market.

Togg's T10X model's share in the overall SUV market was 15 percent.

Renault establishes new firm to enhance investments in Turkey

Renault Group, which has been operating in Turkey since 1968, has decided to establish a new company to enhance its investments in the country, according to a company statement released on Dec. 1.

Hakan Doğu, who is a member of Renault Group Corporate Management Committee, will lead Renault Group Otomotiv A.Ş. as the CEO, according to the statement.
