Private jet carbon emissions soar 46 percent, finds a study

The carbon footprint from private jet travel grew 46 percent between 2019 and 2023 and will keep rising unless the ultra-luxury industry is regulated, according to a new research.

Carbon dioxide emissions from private aviation peaked over the European summer and around major global events like the World Cup, Cannes Film Festival and U.N. climate summits, the study found.

Hydrogen-powered Hy4 aircraft makes successful virgin flight

Ajdovščina – A hydrogen-powered hybrid-electric four-seater aircraft, developed in a project headed by the Slovenian ultralight aircraft maker Pipistrel, has made a successful virgin flight.

Announcing the news, Pipistrel Vertical Solutions called the Hy4’s flight a “landmark milestone for the MAHEPA project and for the future of clean aviation”.

Eleftherios Venizelos Airport is now certified carbon neutral

Athens International Airport recently became carbon neutral after certification by an independent body which attested to the fact that the airport had managed to reduce its CO2 emissions. The airport achieved Level 3+ Neutrality, certified by the independent carbon management program Airport Carbon Accreditation.
