The Greek police and the Greek Fire Brigade presented the new drones that will assist almost the entire spectrum of their missions, from border policing to forest fires detection on their early stages.

The presentation took place in Dekelia AFB, were the guests watched a small demonstration of their abilities.

A “very close” US ally used a $3 million Patriot missile to shoot down a quadcopter drone — which sells on Amazon for $200, according to reports.

“They shot it down with a Patriot missile,” Gen. David Perkins said in a video shared by the US Army on YouTube, the Independent of the UK reported. “Now that worked, they got it, OK, and we love Patriot missiles.”

1,000 drones took off to light up the night sky of the traditional Lantern Festival in Guangzhou, China. The drones flew in various formations such as Chinese characters of ‘Blessing,’ ’Lantern Festival,’ and the map of China. The performance set a Guinness World Record with the biggest number of drones involved, according to CCTV news.

Turkey has become one of the world's leading drone producers and is now targeting the production of up to four tons of drones in weight, Science, Industry and Technology Minister Faruk Özlü has told state-run Anadolu Agency. 

"Our aim is to produce 3.5-4 tons of armed drones in weight and to equip them with high quality weapons and cameras," Özlü said.

A week after India allowed the US to use its Army, Air Force and Naval bases for military purposes, Washington has announced that it will export 22 unarmed high-tech multi-mission Predator Guardian drones to the South Asian powerhouse.

Last week the first breed of Bayraktar* drones began their duty. This was very important for Turkish Intelligence authorities. We have been using American and Israeli drones for our border security. Turkish drones were a very big necessity because drones are the best platforms to gather intelligence. 

European aviation safety authorities have set up a task force to urgently assess the dangers of collisions between drones and aircraft after a rise in near-misses with passenger planes.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu said the country's defense industry executive committee on March 9 approved $5.9 billion in new defense projects, $4.5 billion of which will consist of domestic production.
