Gobi: The Desert | Athens | April 12-20

Photographer Achilleas Alexandrakis presents "Gobi: The Desert," a collection capturing the immensity, awe and admiration evoked by the vast, arid region in northern China and southern Mongolia. Hosted at the Melanithros Art Space (4 Zappa, melanithros.gr), Alexandrakis' images transport the viewer through his vivid artistic vision. Entrance to the exhibition is free.

Love, a divine pursuit

Lasithi, Crete. Our journey took us to a once-thriving mountain village. In the past, the place relied on agricultural and livestock production that bound its residents to their homeland. Today, only a small remnant remains vibrant, catering to tourism. Wherever you cast your gaze, you see shuttered shops, rundown houses and courtyards overgrown with weeds.

The backbone that keeps us upright at difficult times

Why did the Greek government earn plaudits for its management of the coronavirus outbreak? It was because when people switched on their televisions, they received information from officials who (a) were experts in their field, (b) did not pander to the audience and spoke the truth, even if it made them sound unpleasant, and (c) showed a professional attitude about hammering out a plan.

No one appointed them to the top

Their achievements make us proud at a time when we need something to lean on: Yorgos Lanthimos, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Constantinos Daskalakis and many others represent a generation of Greeks who have strived, worked hard and squared up to the world without awe or fear - and succeeded.

You will not believe this cosplayer’s incredible transformations! (photos)

Cosplayers are perhaps some of the most creative and awe-inspiring fans around.
You will often see them in their droves at fan conventions, accurately dressed as their favourite characters.
Some have even managed to find ways to use it to rebel against the system in the workplace.
The costumes are often made entirely from scratch – which is impressive in itself.
