Water crisis deepens in Istanbul dams
With Istanbul grappling with a worsening water crisis due to drought, the water levels in three out of the ten dams supplying water to the country's largest city have plummeted dangerously, falling nearly 3 percent, according to data from the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ).

One in five houses deemed risky in Istanbul: Report
One out of every five buildings in Istanbul, where concerns have been looming for long over a potential earthquake, is built on geologically risky ground, the Istanbul Environmental Plan Report has revealed.

With the drought caused by the lack of rainfall aggravating, the water levels of dams in Istanbul have dropped visibly, raising concerns.
The water level at Büyükçekmece Dam Lake was recorded at 30.94 percent as of March 9.
University building collapses due to nearby construction
The building of a university in Istanbul has collapsed due to a deep foundation pit opened at a construction site nearby, Demirören News Agency has reported.
"The sustaining wall of the construction site fell late on Oct. 23, causing the building of Arel University to collapse in the metropolis' Sefaköy neighborhood," the agency wrote on Oct. 24.

Flamingo colony lands on Istanbul lake
A colony of flamingos has landed on Büyükçekmece Lake for the first time, creating a beautiful scene but also providing another indicator of global warming.
Fikret Can, a local observing the lake on the European side of the metropolis for some 40 years, said that he had first spotted three flamingos there in 2013.

Countdown starts for Istanbul Book Fair
