Homeless in Athens get basic essentials for winter
Athens Municipality has started to distribute backpacks filled with basic essentials for the winter to homeless people in the city.
On Thursday evening, street work teams distributed backpacks to homeless people, each of which contained sleeping bags, blankets, jackets, water resistant trousers, thermos flasks, flashlights and whistles.

Police find stash of Molotov cocktails in Exarchia
Police said that 20 Molotov cocktails were found and seized in the courtyard of an abandoned building in the central Athens district of Exarchia on Tuesday.
A backpack and a metal cutter were also found.
An investigation has been launched.

A German Returned Lost Bag with 16,000 Euros
He refused a reward from its owner "because it was Christmas," police in Krefeld wrote.
A 63-year-old man in Germany forgot a backpack full of gifts and 16,000 euros in cash, according to AFP and BGNES.

The Mountain Rescue Service Warns Tourists not to Take Walks in the Mountains
The Mountain Rescue Service (PSS) at the Bulgarian Red Cross warns all mountain lovers to avoid camping and taking walks in the mountains, especially in the high places. Tourists must keep track of the weather forecast, to be well-equipped, to observe the pre-specified route and to carry charged mobile phones, reminded the Mountain Rescue Service.
Suspicious backpack found in central Athens
A police bomb squad unit was called on Tuesday afternoon to examine a suspicious backpack left at the corner of Amerikis and Panepistimiou streets, in central Athens, Greek media reported.
No further details were available on the backpack or who alerted authorities.

Nearly 600 Municipal Schools in Bulgaria will have New Lockers
588 municipal schools will be equipped with 111 000 school lockers. In them the students will keep their textbooks, teaching aids and other materials, as well as physical education and personal belongings.
200,000 Bulgarian Students will get Lockers and not Carry Heavy Backpacks
State and municipal schools where pupils from the first to the seventh grade are eligible to apply for co-financing for the purchase of school lockers, the Education Ministry said yesterday. The envisaged funds amount to BGN 2.9 million under module "Provision of school lockers" to the national program "Providing a modern educational environment".
