A petition to build a tunnel under the Petrohan Pass in northwestern Bulgaria has gathered nearly 50 000 signatures, organizers say.
Earlier, residents of northwestern Bulgaria put forward a petition that, in their words, would make impoverished Western Bulgaria better connected to the capital Sofia and more attractive to investors.

Body of Hiker Found in Bulgaria's Stara Planina
Rescuers have found the body of Miroslav Kasovski, the IT programmer who went missing in Stara Planina (the Balkan Mountains) last week.
The body was in a remote area of the mountain, Focus News Agency quotes authorities as saying.
A six-day search was conducted to find Kasovski, the latter two (Monday and Tuesday) involving the armed forces and military equipment.

Massive Search Underway for Hiker Missing in Bulgaria's Stara Planina
A search and rescue operation is to be renewed on Tuesday in the Stara Planina mountain for a 34-year-old man who went missing last week.
On Monday, the army joined the search, with 296 troops looking around the area.
Army vehicles and a drone have also been dispatched to take part in the operation.
