Schools may be reopened on June 1: Minister
Turkey may reopen schools on June 1 if normalization from the novel coronavirus pandemic proceeds as planned, the country's national education minister said on April 29.
"If the normalization process continues as expected, we would open schools on June 1," Ziya Selçuk said in a live interview with CNN Turk.

Turkey bars firms from laying off workers amid pandemic
Turkey has barred employers from laying off workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, a top government official said on April 16.
Employment contracts cannot be nullified for a three-month period except in unconscionable situations, according to the country's labor, social services and family minister.
Turkish pop great Kayahan dies at 66
One of the best-selling musicians in Turkey, pop singer, songwriter and composer Kayahan Açar, who became famous as Kayahan, has died of cancer aged 66.
He was diagnosed with soft tissue cancer in 1990, for which he had been receiving long-term treatment. Though he was able to recover multiple times, he relapsed in 2005 and 2014.
