Kurd-Shi'ite clashes in northern Iraq kill eight: sources
Clashes between Kurdish and Shi'ite Turkmen paramilitary forces broke out late on April 23 in northern Iraq, killing at least eight people and cutting a strategic road between Baghdad and the oil city of Kirkuk, security and medical sources said.

More than 700 Iraqi Kurd fighters killed since June ISIL offensive
Iraq's autonomous Kurdish region said Dec. 10 that 727 of its fighters have been killed in the conflict against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) since the jihadists launched their offensive in June.
A statement from the region's military forces, known as the peshmerga, said 3,564 members of the Kurdish security forces had also been wounded over the past six months.
First group of Iraqi Peshmerga in Kobane return home
The first group of Iraqi Peshmerga forces sent to fight in the Syrian town of Kobane in October has returned to Iraq through Turkey.
According to sources, the Peshmerga forces arrived at the Arbil International Airport via a private plane from Turkey's southeastern Şanlıurfa province Dec. 4.
