Port authority to acquire 11 boats for transfer of patients from islands

The port authority is set to acquire 11 boats that will be used to transfer patients from islands to hospitals, under an agreement signed on Monday between Maritime Affairs and Island Policy Minister Christos Stylianides and the Greek subsidiary of a Danish maritime safety equipment manufacturer.

Hospital staff produced isolation stretchers from waste materials

Seven technical staff working in a hospital in the eastern province of Erzurum produced a stretcher made up entirely of waste materials for use in the fight with the COVID-19 outbreak.

Technicians aim to prevent the transmission of the virus to the people around, especially healthcare workers, with the "closed isolation stretcher" they produced.

Blaze at Taiwan Hospital Kills Nine

TAIPEI (Reuters) - A fire at a hospital in Taiwan killed nine people on Monday and injured 15 and an investigation has been launched into the cause of the blaze, authorities said.

Premier William Lai said the health ministry was overseeing rescue efforts at the hospital in New Taipei City, where the fire was extinguished shortly after dawn.
