18% of Russians consider the fall of the Berlin Wall to be a negative event, and 12% hear about the events of November 9, 1989 for the first time, according to a sociological survey of the Levada Center, conducted between October 24 and 30 among 1616 Russians over the age of 18 Vedomosti writes.

A concert by Zmei3, an indie-pop-jazz Romanian band from Berlin, and an exhibition called "Places of the Peaceful Revolution," about the recent German history, are among the events featuring at the Leipzig Culture Days in Bucharest to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The fall of the Berlin Wall marked one of the greatest turning points in world history, seen by many as a bright new dawn for Europe and its path towards freedom and unification.

But three decades on from the event that set off the continent's path to the end of communism, nations are re-erecting metaphorical and literal walls, sowing division again.

Nearly a 4-kilometer long queue of cars was formed at Kulata border checkpoint. At Makaza border checkpoint, traffic is also intense on both sides - exit and entrance, the Border Police reported.

At the "Kalotina" border checkpoint, Lesovo border checkpoint and Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint the traffic is also increased.

28 years have passed since the fall of the Berlin Wall. One of the brightest symbols of the Cold War which divided the East from the West no longer exists.
