With 37 votes "for", 166 "against" and 18 "abstentions", the parliament rejected a draft decision to terminate the Agreement between the governments of Bulgaria and the United States on cooperation in the field of defense, submitted by the pro-Russian party "Vazrazhdane" (Revival). Bulgarians celebrate Children's Day
Today is June 1 - Children's Day. The holiday dates back to the World Conference on Children's Health, held in Geneva in 1925.
24 years later, the day was officially declared International Children's Day. And in 1950, June 1 was celebrated simultaneously in 51 countries around the world for the first time.

Bulgaria: Bad Road Accident, 3 Dead
A total of three victims died after the accident on the highway "Trakia" at 356 km in the direction of Sofia-Burgas, said the press center of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in the seaside town.
The incident happened around 20.30 this evening after the highway exit Balgarovo.

Bulgaria Continues Airbase Modernisation
The Bulgarian Ministry of Defence published a BGN5.8 million (USD3.3 million) tender on 29 July for the modernisation of the Bulgarian Air Force's (BuAF's) Bezmer Air Base, 250 km east of Sofia, under the NATO Security Investment Programme (NSIP).

'Swift Response 17' multi-national airborne training commences
The USA led 'Swift Response 17' airborne exercise will take place and hosts will be the countries of Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania. It will start today and will end on July 23rd. It involves up to 1,600 soldiers from the United States, Canada, Italy, Portugal and Greece.
Bulgaria's Military, Border Police to Conduct Joint Black Sea Drill in April
Bulgaria's Defense Minister Nikolay Nenchev has said Armed Forces and Border Police officers are set to carry out a military drill in a move bolstering security at the country's Black Sea border.
Speaking at the inauguration of Bezmer Airbase, he has not specified a date, but has set the beginning of April as a possible timeframe.
